One thing we are especially excited to bring to Boston is the Sunday roast. In Britain, it is something of a weekly ritual, and has been for centuries. Think of it a bit like Thanksgiving dinner, but every Sunday.
Across the UK, rain or shine, people gather around the table each week for a proper roast. Families, friends, whoever happens to be around. It is the sort of meal that is meant to take its time. Plates piled high, gravy passed around, second helpings encouraged, and the afternoon stretching on longer than expected.
A proper Sunday roast usually means roast beef at the center of the table, served with crisp roast potatoes, towering Yorkshire puddings, seasonal vegetables and plenty of gravy. Simple things done really well, cooked with care and served generously.
It is a tradition we take very seriously at Hawksmoor. Our Sunday roast has twice been named the best in the UK, which is not a title people hand out lightly.
For us, it is about more than just the food. It is about the ritual of it. Slowing down at the end of the week, gathering the people you like best and settling in for a long, relaxed meal.
We cannot wait to introduce Boston to it.
